27th January 1982: Sam finds himself in front of television cameras when he leaps into Roberto Guttierrez, the host of ‘KDNM Channel 2’s popular talk-show, ‘Roberto!’. After surviving a punch-up between guests, Sam learns from Al that Roberto’s big mouth and abrasive attitude is taking him to the Big Time, but ruining his relationship with his colleagues. With Al giving him pointers, Sam clashes with the show’s reporter, Jani Eisenberg, and accepts her challenge to work on a straight story for a change – but then his next lead turns out to be a night-time sighting of aliens. Accompanying Jani on her new story at the nearby pesticide plant, ‘Saxton’, Sam becomes intrigued by word of a cover up around a recent fire. When Al reappears with the news that Jani is destined to fall asleep at the wheel of her car and drive off a cliff, Sam suspects that her death may not be an accident after all…
